WHAT IS A STREET FOOD?

1.BALUT

Banana cue or Banana Q is a popular snack food or street food in the Philippines. The “cue” in the name is an abbreviation of barbecue, which in Philippine English refers to meat cooked in a style similar to satay.

3.TURON
Turon, also known as lumpiyang saging, is a Philippine snack made of thinly sliced bananas and a slice of jackfruit, dusted with brown sugar, rolled in a spring roll wrapper and fried. Other fillings can also be used, including sweet potato, mango, cheddar cheese and coconut.

4.MAIS/CORNCorn is used as livestock feed, as human food, as biofuel, and as raw material in industry. In the United States the colourful variegated strains known as Indian corn are traditionally used in autumn harvest decorations.

5.KWEK-KWEK/TOKNENENG
Tokneneng is a tempura-like Filipino street food made by deep-frying orange batter covered hard-boiled eggs. A popular variation of tokneneng is kwek kwek. The main difference between the two lies in the egg that is used. Kwek kwek is traditionally made with quail eggs, while Tokneneng is made with chicken eggs.

6.BUKO/COCONUT
Buko juice, also known as coconut water, is another refreshing and popular drink that is commonly sold on the streets or in restaurants in the Philippines. The coconut meat can be used for desserts such as buko salad, buko pandan.

7.ISAW
Isaw is a street food from the Philippines, made from barbecued pig or chicken intestines. The intestines are cleaned, turned inside out, and cleaned again, repeating the process several times; they are then either boiled, then grilled, or immediately grilled on sticks.

8.SORBETES/ICECREAM
Ice cream is a sweetened frozen food typically eaten as a snack or dessert. It may be made from dairy milk or cream and is flavored with a sweetener, either sugar or an alternative, and any spice, such as cocoa or vanilla. Colourings are usually added, in addition to stabilizers.

9.MAMI
Mami is a Filipino noodle soup made with wheat flour noodles, broth and the addition of meat or wonton dumplings. It is a type of pancit.

10.FISHBALL
Fish balls are a dish in China, notably popular in southern China, Hong Kong, Macau, as well as in parts of Southeast Asia, and among the overseas Chinese communities. They are made with fish paste and boiled in a soupy broth, or deep fried. They are also common in Nordic countries.
